MIQOLS is essentially a non-profit think tank. Much of the work we have done in the past focused on conducting conferences, workshops, and seminars at universities and NGOs to promote the science of quality-of-life research in various contexts (e.g., community indicator projects, national indicator project, tourism and quality-of-life indicators, quality-of-work-life indicators, indicators of corporate social performance, indicators of health-related quality-of-life). Here are some examples of the think tank’s activities of the last four years:
2013
- In the process of conducting a major project for the Halloran Philanthropies concerning the history of well-being (read more).
- Participated in a strategy workshop at Sodexo.
2012
- Conducted a webinar for the Community Indicators Consortium on quality-of-life indicator selection (online)
- Conducted a tourism and quality-of-life symposium in collaboration with GRL Development and various government organizations and NGOs in the State of Maryland (Annapolis, Maryland)
- Conducted a workshop at the German Academic Society for Business Research related to indicators of corporate social performance (Bolzano, Italy)
- Conducted a workshop with faculty and doctoral students on indicators of employee and consumer well-being at the EuroMed School of Management (France) and delivered a keynote speech for the university at large on the psychology of quality of life (Marseille, France)
- Research assistance in collaboration with the EuroMed School of Management (France) on a research project related to assessment of well-being and socio-economic development in North African countries
- Currently, MIQOLS is collaborating with the Free University Bolzano (Italy) trying to organize a conference on tourism and quality-of-life studies to be held in Brunico (Italy) in December 2012
- Initiated a project on the history of well-being in collaboration with the Halloran Philanthropies and the Buckminster Fuller Institute.

- Conducted two seminars at the Annual Positive Marketing Conference about indicators of consumer well-being (New York, New York)
- Provided research assistance to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Foundation related to children with cancer in Rwanda, Africa (Charlotte, North Carolina)
- Reviewed grant proposals for the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong related to quality-of-life indicator projects
- Research assistance in collaboration with the EuroMed School of Management (France) on a research project related to assessment of well-being and socio-economic development in North African countries

- Delivered a plenary session presentation at the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies Conference (Bangkok, Thailand) on how theory and ethics guide indicator selection
- Conducted a workshop at the International Society for Quality-of-Life Studies on how to plan and manage community indicator projects (Bangkok, Thailand)
- Conducted a seminar on indicators of consumer well-being at the Macromarketing Conference (Laramie, Wyoming)

- Conducted a workshop about business ethics and quality of life at the Business School of the University of Monterey (Monterey, Mexico)
- Provided consulting services for the State of the USA (SUSA), Washington DC to help SUSA with the planning and development of national accounts of well-being
- Assisted the University of Western Australia in Perth (Australia) in developing their business ethics program
- Delivered a keynote speech about tourism and quality of life at a symposium organized by the Department of Tourism of Hungary (in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization) in Budapest (Hungary) and participated in a workshop to assist with the development of an industry measure of tourism well-being
- Delivered a keynote speech about tourism and quality of life at the Consumer Behavior in Tourism Symposium (Bruneck, Italy)
